Co-hosting SubmitHub's SXSW 2024 Showcase

What's so good?

The world is starting to rumble as artists and the many cogs that make up the music industry point their compasses toward Austin with the intent to take over the city in March of 2024. The name up in lights is none other than: 2024 SXSW Music Festival.

SubmitHub, our sister company founded by Jason Grishkoff, was asked to present an official showcase. SubmitHub is a music submission platform that has reshaped the industry. Since 2015, it has given independent artists a leg-up in the music promotion game by connecting them to curators and influencers transparently and fairly. The quality-control checks are what sets it apart from other sites that have tried to mimic it. And these days, most artists, managers, labels, and publicists include SubmitHub in their music promotion strategy. Making a ripple in the industry in this way, SubmitHub's name thrown into the SXSW mix makes perfect sense.

SubmitHub's approach to hosting the showcase took the form of collaborating with the platform's biggest blogs, each presenting an artist. This is where we come in, as one of the co-hosts alongside Birp.fm, Stereofox, We All Want Someone To Shout For, Highclouds, and Alexrainbirdmusic.

Historically, music blogs have lent their voice to the promotion of smaller artists and shaped the landscape as tastemakers. With the overwhelming volume of music available, music blogs act as filters and curators and let's not forget that for emerging artists, getting featured on a music blog can be a crucial step in their development.

Server Problems

We were having issues with the stream, it turns out it was a corrupt decoder on the server side.

It took over 48hrs of trouble shooting to come to the conclusion that it was not a DJ/Software issue but was definitely server related.

The server software was updated and re-configured and after testing for a few hours it seems to be stable again, things are fixed (we hope).
