Flying Lotus Created Two Ringtones Featured on Every iPhone Since 2019

This is certainly better than the time Apple forced a U2 album on everyone’s iPhones.
The latest series from Twenty Thousand Hertz, a podcast that shares the stories behind some of the world’s most iconic sounds, focuses on the sounds featured in Apple’s products like the iPhone and Apple Watch. And in one particularly illuminating episode, the podcast revealed that two ringtones released in 2019 were secretly created by Flying Lotus.
Released in 2019 as a part of iOS 13, Flying Lotus’ ringtones “Daybreak” and “Chalet” have been available to all iPhone users. The influential producer recalled how he was surprised at the offer initially, but prepared considering he’d made custom ringtones for himself in the past.
He described the sounds as nostalgic and “a bit ambient,” but strong enough to galvanize you to check your phone without being harsh.
